His family released a statement about the actor's death.
Angus Cloud, the actor who played Fezco on the HBO series Euphoria, passed away on July 31st, 2023. He was 25 years old.
Cloud's family announced his death in a statement on Monday. "It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today," the statement said. "As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways."
Angus Cloud had no prior acting experience before being cast in Euphoria. He was walking down the street in New York City when he was noticed by a casting director. He was initially hesitant to audition, but he eventually agreed and was cast in one of the series most beloved roles. Fezco is a drug dealer who befriends Rue (Zendaya), a teenage girl struggling with addiction. Angus Cloud's performance as Fezco was praised by critics and fans alike. He was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2020.
In addition to Euphoria, Cloud had a small role in the 2018 film North Hollywood. He was also set to appear in the upcoming film The Line.
While the cause of dead has not been confirmed by the family, the statement talked about how Cloud had always been open about his battle with mental health. In a 2020 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he said that he had been diagnosed with depression and anxiety. He also said that he had been in and out of therapy.
The cast of Euphoria has been reacting via social media to the tragic news.
"There was no one quite like Angus. He was too special, too talented and way too young to leave us so soon. He also struggled, like many of us, with addiction and depression. I hope he knew how many hearts he touched. I loved him. I always will. Rest in peace and God Bless his family." said Sam Levinson, the series creator.
